Brooklyn Public Library’s Center for Brooklyn History is the host of NYC History Day! NYCHD 2023 is the regional contest for National History Day (NHD). New York City middle and high schoolers get to do original research on a historical topic of their choice and make their own exhibition, performance, documentary, website, or paper. Winners from NYCHD will have a chance to compete on the state and potentially national history day levels. All participants will be able to gain important research skills, connect with amazing New York City cultural institutions, and have fun!

Drop by the Center for Brooklyn History's Great Hall to:

  • learn about this year's theme, Frontiers in History: People, Places, Ideas.
  • see examples of amazing projects, including a screening of National History Day award-winning documentary Shirley Chisholm: Championing Domestic Workers through Debate and Diplomacy, made by Brooklyn students from Hellenic Classical Charter School.
  • hear from past contestants, parents, and teachers.
  • eat, drink, and meet fellow history lovers in a beautiful landmarked building

We hope to see you there! In the meantime, check out our NYCHD website to learn about the contest. You can always ask us questions by emailing nychd@bklynlibrary.org.
