Music Production at the Library: Keyboards and MIDI
Learn the basics of keyboards, right here at the Brooklyn Public Library. This workshop will cover the basics of the piano keyboard at a beginner level, including notes, chords, scales, and melody. Keyboards will be provided to share. Using GarageBand, plus a keyboard, we will learn to play a few simple songs. We will learn how to use and read MIDI charts. And finally, we will create a new simple song together from scratch.
Up to 15 laptops with Garageband will be provided. First come, first served; sign up at the Info Commons Reference Desk 30 minutes in advance of the session. If you have access to a MacBook yourself, you are welcome to bring it.
