SPECIAL MATINEE PERFORMANCE!

Step into a world of biting absurdity and timeless truths with Molière in the Park's staged reading of "The Miser"!

Traditionally presented at the Picnic House in partnership with Prospect Park Alliance, this year's reading by Molière in the Park, co-presented with Brooklyn Public Library, will take in the Dweck Cultural Center at 7 pm on Friday, December 1, and also on Saturday, December 2.  Click on the hyperlink for more information about our other dates.

Written by Molière in 1668 and presented upward of 2500 times over the next 350 years at the Comédie Française alone, "The Miser" is Molière’s most successful play, both in France and internationally.

Built around the themes of money, truth-masking, intergenerational conflict, and forced marriage, you’ll discover a play deemed as relevant now as it was then, that revolutionized the classical conventions of the time with its language - naturalistic prose versus poetic verse - and its realistic portraits of human behavior.

So, join us as we revisit this comedy through a contemporary lens and interrogate some of the most enduring aspects of human nature. This free staged reading promises to leave you smiling and with lots to ponder.
