Meet the Authors: Conversations with Chinese Writers in New York 对话纽约中文作家第二讲: 应帆新书座谈会

北美中⽂作家协会（AACW）⽬前拥有130多名分布于美国和加拿⼤的作家会员。7⽉29⽇，纽约 中⽂作家应帆与三位作家嘉宾将莅临本馆，开展我们“对话纽约中⽂作家”系列的第⼆讲 --应帆新书 座谈会 -- 跟⼤家分享应帆刚出版的两本新书：中短篇⼩说集《漂亮的⼈都来纽约了》（三藩壹嘉 出版社）与诗集《我终于失去了迷路的⾃由》（纽约新世纪出版社）。 三位作家嘉宾将分别点评应帆的⼩说和诗歌写作。王渝是应帆很多⼩说和诗歌作品的第⼀批读者 和编辑，⿎励并激发了他的创作。王渝认为应帆的⼩说有“幽默感”，“闲笔很重要”；他的诗歌则在 海外诗坛独树⼀帜。常少宏认为应帆的⼩说别具特⾊，记录了⼀代⼈在美国的留学和成⻓经历。 洪君植为应帆的诗集写下万字评论，认为他的诗反映了他作为⼀个困于乡愁之中的纽约客获得 了“在场书写”的精神内核。 作者和嘉宾的对话内容将包括应帆的写作道路，个别⼩说和诗作背后的故事，他的语⾔特⾊，以 及作品诵读。他们也会现场解答⼤家有关写作或者应帆新书的问题。应帆的两部新作会在图书馆 展出，欢迎⼤家踊跃借阅或购买。 

This is the second of a conversation series by the American Association of Chinese Writers (AACW) with Dyker Library patrons. On July 29, 2023, New York-based AACW writer Aiguo Ying will discuss his recent U.S.-published books All Beautiful People Have Come to New York, a short story collection (1Plus Books), and I have Finally Lost the Freedom of Getting Lost (New Century Press), a book of poetry. Three guest speakers will share their own impressions of these books. Ms. Helen Hsiah (Yu Wang) has been the editor and first reader of many literary works by Mr. Ying, encouraging and motivating his writing. She especially enjoys the humor found in his work. Ms. Sharon Chang appreciates how Mr. Ying’s fiction has reflected the lives of a whole generation of Chinese immigrants and their struggles and adaptations into the new world. Finally, Mr. Junzhi Hong has written extensively about Mr. Ying’s poetry, lauding his effort in gaining the spiritual core of Writing the Present and considering Mr. Ying a New Yorker cocooned and searching in his own nostalgia. Mr. Ying and guests will talk about his writing career, the stories behind his work, and his literary style and take questions from the audience. They will also read excerpts from both books, which will be on display at the library for viewing with some additional copies available for purchase.
