Meet the Artist: Kevin Liang 对话纽约华人艺术家梁奇云

Kevin Liang, a talented artist, started his career and learned from different masters. After he emigrated from China to New York in 1982, Kevin has devoted his life to oil paintings. Kevin’s remarkable work emphasizes painting in color -at first, in austere, realistic images and later in brilliant, high-key landscapes. These brilliant paintings visually combine pigments with subtler adjacent mixtures. The intensified version of landscape in the painting appears to be illuminated by its own light source. His recent landscape paintings strongly represent a source of emotional, spiritual well-being and take the paintings out of the literal into the realm of the poetic. His paintings are introspective and gently remind us of the importance of tranquility and poetic feeling. Kevin has traveled extensively across the United States to exhibit his art works. He paints along the way during his travelling adventures while outdoors, taking inspiration from nature and fresh air to quickly capture the true effects of color and light.  His artwork is on exhibition throughout Dyker Library through the fall.  Kevin will demonstrate his oil painting and share stories about his artistic journey with the public and give away two pieces of his original art to two lucky attendees of this event at Dyker Library 1pm-3pm on Friday September 15th, 2023.

梁奇云出生于1957, 从1978年到1982年曾在广东省工艺美术研究所工作。他于1982年留学美国约纽皇后大学攻读电脑，毕业后一直从事绘画、摄影和诗创作。现以自由艺术家旅居美国约纽市布鲁克林区。从1990年至今，他活跃在美国各地参加艺术展。他的很多艺术作品被众多私人机构和个人收藏. 他的油画以风景为主, 色彩鲜明, 笔触和刀法流畅. 他的摄影作品深受油画色彩影响，独树一格. 目前他以自然风光为主题的油画、摄影与数码绘画作品在戴克图书馆展出。9月15日周五下午1点至3点梁奇云将在戴克图书馆与民众交流互动，畅谈艺术家创作趣事和心得，并现场作画示范。他还准备了两张作品随机送给在场的观众。布鲁克林戴克高地连接日落公园, 湾脊, 班森贺与汉密尔顿堡 ,近年来有许多华人移居此地。戴克图书馆增加了中文书籍、杂志、也有说中文的馆员服务民众。戴克图书馆举办的一系列活动还将包括一场与诗人王家新的对话。图书馆地址在13大道交82街:8202 13 Avenue Brooklyn, NY11228, 电话718-748-6261, 图书馆门口有B64公车站直达.
