Medical Debt Info Session

Thu, May 15 2025
6:00 pm – 7:30 pm
Central Library, Business & Career Center, Event Room

adult learning business finance

Do you or someone you know have hospital bills that you can’t afford?

Come learn about hospital financial assistance programs which are available at every hospital in the New York City area. Eligible patients are usually those that make $62,600 or less as an individual or for those making $128,600 or less with a family of four. Some hospitals are more flexible and you may qualify with a higher income. These medical debt relief programs help both patients with and without insurance, regardless of immigration status.

Attorney Rose Gasner, a member of the all- volunteer Hospital Bill Assistance Team, will explain how these programs work and how you can apply. Her health care background includes working in city government, health care insurance, non-profits and as a consultant with Undue Medical Debt.

Additional volunteers (including Spanish, French and Mandarin speakers) will be available to answer questions. If you can’t make the session, check out DollarFor, a national nonprofit that helps patients crush medical bills.

Future programs:

Come to our Medical Debt Clinic on May 27th from 3pm - 7pm for one-on-one help. Registration required.

BPL’s Business & Career Center is generously supported by Dime Community Bank, Lead Funder of the PowerUP Business Plan Competition, Dr. Beverly S. Jacobs, Ridgewood Savings Bank, and Data Axle Reference Solutions.
