Mapleton and Dyker Librarians Present: Celebrating the Year of Tiger with Fusion Watercolor Painting

Learn to paint in water media in a fusion of Western watercolor and Asian brush painting styles for a variety of topics related to the tiger.  In 15 classes, we will explore:

1. Siberian Tiger in Snowy Forest 
2. Plum Blossom with Tiger 
3. South Asian Tiger in Tropical Jungle with Orchids
4. Yellow Hills with Tiger-colored Butterflies
5. Waterfall, Tigerlily with Tiger 
6. Jacaranda, water lily, with tiger
7. Lotus flowers with Tiger
8. Sunflower with tiger
9. Landscape with Tiger-shaped Rocks
10. Autumn Foliage with Tiger Caps
11. Tiger Walking in Bamboo Groove
12. Tiger Walk out of Icy Cave

Each program will be recorded, livestreamed on YouTube, and shared on YouTube after each session.  All participants who register and join this program will be recorded.  Your image will be seen if you leave your camera on, your voice will be heard if you ask a question, and your name may be visible.

• Watercolor paints; the instructor uses these brands: QOR, Daniel Smith, Windsor & Newton, and Holbein. Minimum palette 7 colors, including one warm and one cool for each primary color plus white gouache: 
  • 2 red colors(for example Pyrrole Red and Alizarin Crimson (or Rose Madder)
  • 2 Yellow colors (i.e. Lemon Yellow and Orange Yellow)
  • 2 Blue colors (i.e. Cobalt Blue and Ultramarine Blue)
  • Titanium White
  • Other frequently used colors in Henry’s painting are Yellow Oche (or Raw Umber), Burnt Sienna, VanDyke, Ultraviolet, Terre Verte, Sap Green, Lavender, Verditer Blue, Horizon Blue, Phthalo Blue,  Juane Brillant #1,
  • Juane Brillant #2, and Naples Yellow.
