Magic by Ulises

At age 8, a young Ulises became fascinated by magic and prestidigitation. He started hanging out at the well-known magic shop called "La Casa de los Trucos" in Miami, Florida, where he grew up, and learned his first tricks from Estevan Torres the then owner of the shop. Around then, Ulises was also introduced to Alvin Goodman's magic classes in the late 70s at the Miami Space Transit Planetarium where along with other aspiring young magicians his own age he learned the basics of performing magic for others. Ulises started giving his first public performances in the fourth grade. "At school, I would fib and tell my teacher that I had booked a magic show at Mrs. So-and-so's class down the hall and she'd let me out of class and then I'd run down to the other teacher's classroom and offer to do a magic show for her class. The answer always came back yes and so I'd have a captive audience for about a whole hour. I ran this racket for quite a while without my parents or anybody else catching me at it. It's a very fond memory now and I directly credit the experience to my being a professional entertainer and performer today."
