Hip Hop 50 lectures and discussions music

Join fellow music lovers to discuss the meanings and memories of classic albums from the Brooklyn Public Library's Vinyl Collection! We'll be continuing our celebration of hip-hop's fiftieth anniversary by listening to and discussing the lightning-in-a-bottle three-album run that launched A Tribe Called Quest into the rap pantheon.

People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm, The Low End Theory, and Midnight Marauders are not just stellar canvases for Q-Tip, Ali Shaheed, Phife, and Jarobi's unique talents, but defining cornerstones of a decade, a scene, a movement.

Give these NYC classics a relisten and join fellow fans for an evening of beats, rhymes, and life!

All of the records we'll discuss are part of the Vinyl Collection at the Central Library. You can borrow them with your library card or listen to them at the library's listening station! Please note that all vinyl records must be checked out from and returned at the Central Library.
