Living Poets is a 10-week class exploring work by some of the most dynamic and groundbreaking contemporary poets writing today. Students will engage in close readings with each poet's work and will have opportunities to respond with poems of their own. Poets on the reading list include: Nate Marshall, Kimiko Hahn, Yusef Komunyakaa, Eve L. Ewing, Marwa Helal, Tyehimba Jess, Joy Harjo, Sharon Olds, Ilya Kaminsky and Victoria Chang. 

The class will be led by writer and human rights professional Emily Sernaker. Emily's work has appeared in Ms. Magazine, The Sun, The San Francisco Chronicle, The New York Times, McSweeney's and more. She is a Rotary International Ambassadorial Scholar and a staff writer for the International Rescue Committee.

 

Living Poets is open to all levels and is free to the public. Login details will be sent to participants shortly after registration.
