LitFilm 2023: A Poet in New York
Drama, dir. by Aisling Walsh
U.K., 2014, 72 min
A look at Welsh poet Dylan Thomas's fatal visit to New York City, and his stormy relationship with his wife Caitlin. In 1953 the author of such poems as “Do not go gentle into that good night" and the play Under Milk Wood arrives in New York for a tour of poetry readings, his marriage a wreck, his drinking out of control. He was on his way to meet Stravinsky and to wallow in New York acclaim, but what was he escaping? How did such a triumph become a requiem? The last days of a great poet.
