Life Beyond Likes Book Tour: A Conversation About Creating Intentional Joy
Join the first public event of the Life Beyond Likes book tour and join us for a conversation with the entrepreneur, skydiver, and author Isa Watson who will be discussing her new book with Rolling Stone Magazine’s Editor-in-Chief Noah Shachtman. Following the discussion, there will be a book signing.
With so much of our lives plugged into the internet, we’ve never been more connected—or disconnected—from the people that are most important to us. And for all that we think we’re getting out of social media, we’re also getting duped. Depression, anxiety, and suicide rates are on the rise and the virtual world is partly to blame.
Life Beyond Likes: Logging Off Your Screen and Into Your Life highlights how social media has affected our daily lives, self-esteem and real-life relationships. Combining research and compelling storytelling, Life Beyond Likes empowers its readers with information and practical tips on how to let go of their curated online lives and instead learn how to intentionally curate a life of joy.
Isa Watson is the founder and CEO of Squad, an app that makes it fun and easy to talk with your friends — away from the distractions of social media. Before founding Squad, Isa was a research chemist at Pfizer and a Wall Street executive at JP Morgan Chase. She decided to leave those careers and build Squad to make an impact on a social issue important to her: digital wellness and friendships. Fun fact: Isa is an avid skydiver and hopes to convince Noah to go skydiving with her one day.
Noah Shachtman is the Editor-in-Chief of Rolling Stone Magazine and was previously the Editor-in-Chief of the Daily Beast. He has written for the New York Times, the Washington Post, and the Wall Street Journal. He has appeared on CNN, NPR, MSNBC and has also reported from Iraq, Afghanistan and Russia. Fun Fact: Before beginning his career in journalism, he was a staffer for the Bill Clinton 1992 presidential campaign and a professional bass player.
Thanks to Kew and Willow Books, Life Beyond Likes will also be available for purchase on site at the event.
