Justice Initiatives at BPL is partnering with community organizations and agencies to produce a series of Know Your Rights workshops. This event in the series will focus on Child Support and Family Court in New York City, updated from our 2020 event on the same topic.

This event will be livestreamed here and on the BPL YouTube channel. There will be a Q&A session at the end of the workshop, and you will be able to post your questions in the livestream chat.

The NYS Court’s Office for Justice Initiatives’ (OJI) mission is to ensure meaningful access to justice in civil, criminal, and family matters for New Yorkers of all backgrounds, incomes, and special needs, by using every resource, including pro bono programs, self-help services, and technological tools, and by securing stable and adequate non-profit and government funding for civil and criminal legal services programs. 

Speakers:

Tracy Woods-Trudden is an Assistant Deputy Chief Clerk in Queen Family Court. She began her career in the Courts as a Court Officer in Criminal Court and was promoted to Senior Court Clerk in Bronx Housing Court. Tracy was promoted to Associate Court Clerk in Kings Family Court in 2003 and later transferred to Queens Family Court. Tracy has been a supervisor of all divisions and specialties in Family Court and currently assists with supervision of operations of Queens Family Court.

Jessica Stadmeyer, Esq. is the Director of Legal Resources & Community Engagement with Legal Information for Families Today (LIFT). LIFT’s mission is to close the justice gap in New York Family Court through legal advice and information, easy-to-access technology, and compassionate support, while promoting system-wide reform of the courts and public agencies. LIFT provides free resources and tools to unrepresented litigants confronting family law issues of paternity, child support, custody, visitation and domestic violence in New York State.
