Brainy Babies early literacy first five years storytime toddler time

Learn and grow with your baby and toddler at the library! For children 0-3 years and their caregivers.

Hosted by Kings Highway Library, families enjoy stories and activities designed to encourage brain development and early learning practices.  Each week we will read books, sing songs, and do fun activities that promote language development, social-emotional skills, and more. Parents and caregivers will have the opportunity to learn about community resources, hear from expert guest speakers, and connect with peer support networks.

Each week, we explore a different theme:  READING, TALKING, SINGING, PLAYING, MOVEMENT, and EMOTIONS. Parents and caregivers will learn how to use these practices to develop their children’s oral language and pre-reading skills.

Brain Building at BPL is made possible through support by the Robin Hood Foundation. Additional support for BPL’s First Five Years programs is provided through generous funding from the New York City Council as part of City’s First Readers; The Pinkerton Foundation; Lucille Strider and Robert Myrstad in memory of Adam Strider; Hamond Family Foundation and Terry Mansky; Andrea R. Bozzo & John Martinez; Sagalyn Family Fund; and Ellen Freudenheim & Daniel Wiener. Support is also provided by the Brooklyn Eagles—a group of young and engaged Brooklyn Public Library supporters.
