Join us for a special Black History Month Craft. Romare Bearden was a famous African American artist and social activist known especially for his beautiful and innovative collages that depict African American life in both urban and rural settings in thought provoking ways.

Born in North Carolina, his family moved to NYC in 1914 to escape the dangers of Jim Crow. Romare grew up in Harlem during the height of the Harlem renaissance and his art was influenced by the visual art, writing, and music he was exposed to there, as well as his experiences in the South. He became on of the most influential artists of the 20th century.

Let’s celebrate Black History Month by learning about his life and artwork, and creating collages on canvas in his renowned style.

Kids Create is an arts and crafts program for school age children 5-12 years held every Thursday from 4-4:45pm.
