Join us in the DUMBO Archway, under the Manhattan Bridge, for this 1.5 hour outdoor workshop for kids and families in which participants will learn the basics of papermaking. The workshop will cover how to pull and couche a sheet, how to use stencils and pulp-paint to embed images and patterns into paper, and how to press and dry sheets. Each participant can expect to walk away from the workshop with roughly 5 sheets of 8.5 x 11” handmade cotton paper.
This workshop will be led by Brooklyn based non-profit, Dieu Donné Paper Mill, in partnership with Brooklyn Public Library. Dieu Donné is a leading non-profit cultural institution dedicated to serving established and emerging artists through the collaborative creation of contemporary art using the process of hand papermaking. For more information, you can visit Dieu Donné’s website.
Space is limited; please register to save your spot! Walk-ups will be accommodated if possible.
Presented in partnership with Dumbo Improvement District's Daily Dose of Dumbo programming series.
