techknowledge
GarageBand is a powerful free tool for creating music, and has been used as a sketchpad by Grammy-award-winning musicians. In this class, we will go over the very basics—the main elements of a musical composition (melody, harmony, rhythm, and form), how to set up instruments and record ideas, understanding “piano reel” MIDI notation, and the strengths and limitations of the GarageBand software.
This class is aimed towards people who are beginners in both music and digital audio. More experienced musicians are welcome to participate.
Corey Bertelsen is a game developer, audio designer, and educator based in Brooklyn. He has worked on games and interactive projects that have been shown across the country at events such as the Independent Games Festival, Boston FIG, the Experimental Gameplay Workshop, and Terminus Conference.
