Intro to Basic Digital Photography and Photo Editing in Adobe Lightroom

In this two-part course, you will learn how to take photographs using your camera's manual settings. Exposure, manual focus, and shutter speed will all be explained in this hands-on intensive first session. During our second session, you will learn how to use the Adobe Lightroom software to edit your photographs. Make your colors more vivid and add light and visual texture to really make your photographs stand out. As an added bonus, you will learn about the Lightroom mobile app and Lightroom's cloud feature.
Part 1: Tuesday, April 28, hands-on photography intensive
Part 2: Wednesday, April 29, editing photos in Adobe Lightroom
You will need:
- Your digital camera (preferably a DSLR camera but not mandatory)
- An SD card or other digital media compatible with your camera (at least 16GB)
- Spare battery and charger
- An external hard drive or USB thumb drive
Onel Mulet currently works on the broadcast team and in the marketing department at the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY where he coaches grad students on Premiere Pro, Pro Tools, Adobe Audition, and studio and field recording techniques. As part of the broadcast team he works in the studio as an audio engineer. Onel also produces and edits as well as doing sound design audio editing and mixing for the schools marketing department.
In addition to his work at CUNY Onel is a media professor for the nonprofit Brooklyn Free Speech where he taught Spanish and English language courses in digital photography, stop motion animation, Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Audition, TV studio production, and audio in the field. He also works for BRIC TV as an audio engineer on the weekly show BSide and is the editor for the ThriveNYC podcast hosted by first lady Chirlane McCray.
