International Dance Series: Learn African Dance
The New Lots Library cordially invites you to join us virtually for an evening of traditional African dance, with dance instructor, Caren Calder.
Caren Calder-Adams has danced professionally with Garth Fagan’s Bottom of the Bucket, But…Dance Theatre, the American Dance Asylum, Chuck Davis Dance Company, Forces of Nature Dance Company, Iyataiye, and Harambee Dance Company. She teams with her daughter Crystal Energy as Artistic Director of Indigo Arts, a unique family based company that provides music, dance and storytelling from the African tradition, for all occasions.
Caren became a yoga instructor in 2000 and taught at North General Hospital’s AIDS Residency, at various public schools and currently at Riverton’s Senior Center through JASA. Since COVID-19 she has been teaching chair yoga and Zumba classes online.
Caren is a member of Women Of The Calabash and Alakande! Spread Joy! She teaches Arts in Education dance workshops through Lotus Music & Dance Studios, Music For Many, Sundog Theatre, Urban Stages and Yaffa Cultural Arts, Inc. She taught Adaptive Dance Movement for Seniors at Riverbank State Park from 1998 to 2021.
This is three second dance style, in our three-part international dance series for 2022!
This program will take place on Zoom and registration is required.

Audience: 18+. All skill levels are welcome! Registration is required!
