From Idea to Demo: A Songwriting Intensive - Day 1
Join us for a hands-on, collaborative songwriting workshop designed for all skill levels, led by lomipo, an indie-pop duo and songwriting/production house based between NYC and LA. Over three sessions (two workshops plus an open studio day), you’ll work in small groups to write an original song from scratch and record a simple demo using GarageBand or Logic Pro X. The primary goal is to give participants:
- Tools to write their own songs, and
- Tools to capture those ideas as a basic demo, either:
- vocals + guitar or piano, or
- vocals over a “song-starter”/beat found online.
By the end of the workshop, participants will know how to move from a rough spark to a structured, recordable idea. Participants will be placed in small groups (2-4 people) with a mix of beginners and more experienced songwriters so everyone can learn from one another. Before the course begins, participants will be asked to share their experience level so we can form balanced groups in advance. Email infocommons@bklynlibrary.org.
No prior experience is required—just curiosity and a love of music. If you already write songs, you’re welcome to join to refine your process, co-write with others, and explore basic production.
