Home Green Home: Clean Affordable Energy for Everyone

Low- and no-cost energy improvements can add up to real savings, whether you rent, live in a coop or condo, or own a private home. 350Brooklyn and NYC 2030 District present an evening designed to help everyone save money and improve the environment without making big changes to buildings. Learn about discounted community solar electricity (no rooftop panels needed), an app that tells you when and how to use electricity to cut costs, and ideas for maximizing energy efficiency in your home.

Speakers

Anapaula Abarca, Solar Program Manager, Solar One

Anapaula manages Solar One’s community solar program, focusing on initiatives that provide equitable access to solar energy for communities disproportionately affected by social and environmental injustice. She helps low-income New Yorkers access community solar and provides technical assistance to help other non-profits develop their own solar projects. Anapaula is a first-generation graduate of Hunter College.

David Bergman, RA, LEED AP, CPHD, Assoc AIA

David Bergman is an architect, author and professor. Bergman is the Program Director for the New York School of Interior Design’s Master of Professional Studies in Sustainable Interior Environments and an adjunct assistant professor at Parsons School of Design. He holds a B.A. in architecture and economics from Yale and an M.Arch from Princeton.

David Klatt, CEO, Logical Buildings

David is CEO of Logical Buildings, an industry leading sustainability, smart building and virtual powerplant technology provider for the built world. Logical Buildings’ integrated technologies are combating climate change by empowering residential, commercial and industrial energy users to reduce their carbon footprint and earn money, all within GridRewards, a user-friendly, award-winning mobile app. David is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania.

350Brooklyn is a volunteer-driven group that mobilizes people to take effective local action to address the climate crisis. We are committed to pursuing solutions that both reduce climate pollution and ensure that low-income New Yorkers and environmental justice communities participate fully in the benefits the shift to renewable energy will bring.

NYC 2030 District is a nonprofit private-public climate action partnership, one of over 20 such districts in North America. NYC2030 is a catalyst to collaboratively advance sustainable and resilient projects, programs and practices at the local level. We provide important resources that enable community benefits, energy cost savings and improved property values for our stakeholder partners while demonstrating how to mitigate and adapt to climate change on an urban scale.
