Come to the Dyker Library to learn how to participate in Curbside Composting and how your yard waste and food scraps become finished compost and renewable energy! A representative of the NYC Department of Sanitation will be answering all of your composting questions and giving out free kitchen containers for your food scraps.

Attendees will receive 1-lb. bags of compost for their houseplants, leaf bags, and a 1-gallon kitchen container while supplies last.  Coloring books for educational activities are available too.  A representative of the NYC Department of Sanitation will be answering all of your composting questions and giving out free kitchen containers for your food scraps.

What is A Kitchen Container? Kitchen Containers are small bins that allow you to easily store the food scraps in your kitchen before bringing them to your building’s compost bin or food scrap-drop off site. They can be lined with plastic, paper, and compostable bags; or not lined at all, depending on your preference.
