It’s never too early to give folks the opportunity to explore identity or to learn about the many forms of gender expression. Genderful! is a free event for children and their caregivers, focused on exploring gender through curiosity, creativity, and community. The day will feature:

Queer Kid Stuff Live!

Join Lindsay from Queer Kid Stuff for a special storytime and sing-a-long! Lindsay will sing all your favorite songs from QKS, read about the ABCs of Activism, and there might even be a special appearance from their best-stuffed friend, Teddy! Raise your rainbow flag and head over to BPL with your littles for songs and stories.

Talk Back, Tranform: Transformative Poetry with Anaïs Duplain

The sights, sounds, and smells around us can all become sources of inspiration. When we make art about what inspires us, we are 'talking back' to the world. Exploring writing as a way of responding and transforming our surroundings, this workshop will include collaborative writing, breathing, and movement exercises. These kinds of positive transformations can help people of all ages and genders feel more at ease, as they see their vibrant selves more reflected in their environment.

Rebirth Warriors: Fashion and Performance Workshop with Sky Cubacub from Rebirth Garments

How do you make/ hack your wardrobe to make it fully celebrate the intersection of all of your identities? We will explore the idea of Radical Visibility, a Disabled Queer dress reform movement based on highlighting the parts of us that society typically shuns. Sky will be continuously doing interactive draping demos using a no sew method of designing, only scissors to cut holes in scraps, yardage and old clothing, which works best to promote creativity and imagination. This is hands on dress up time and body movement work, and a mini dance party all in one. Other activities include taking about the relationships between “body + garment” as well as the idea of “process as performance”. This is a drop in/ drop out workshop, so feel free to come and go as you please!

First Person PBS
First Person PBS explores gender identity and sexuality, covering LGBTQ issues through first-person narratives.
