Influenza (“the flu”) is an acute respiratory infection caused by influenza viruses effecting the nose, throat, and sometimes the lungs. The virus can spread easily between people when they cough or sneeze. Receiving the flu vaccine is the best way to prevent infection and limit its complications. Young children, older adults, pregnant women, and those with chronic disease or weak immune systems are at high risk. One such chronic disease is asthma.  The flu can impact your lungs when you have asthma, leading to swelling and narrowing of your airways and can trigger an asthma attack. Join us to learn more about the flu, and it's impact on asthma and other respiratory conditions.

Presenters: Dr. Perdita Permaul, MD and Dr. Kalliope Tsirilakis, MD from New-York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medicine
