Fair Housing for Young Adults
Are you a young adult planning to rent your first place now or in a couple years? Sometimes landlords or brokers discriminate against tenants because of their race, immigration status, sexual orientation, or other identities. Join NYC Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) for an info session to learn about your fair housing rights and how to avoid and combat illegal discrimination. This session is part of the Fair Housing Justice Center (FHJC)'s initiative to help first-time renters, especially those living in unsafe or overcrowded housing or concerned about struggling to pay rent We’ll also talk about the way New York City government is working to make the city a fairer place to live through the Where We Live NYC plan.
Where We Live NYC 2025 in NYC Libraries
This event is part of a campaign at libraries across NYC engaging New Yorkers in the development of the City’s updated fair housing plan. Be sure to check out the Where We live NYC display located at this branch, and 20 others [insert link to branch map], to share your experiences and ideas.
Where We Live NYC is the city's comprehensive fair housing plan aimed at promoting diversity and reducing segregation. Released in 2020 after extensive community engagement, the plan outlined 81 commitments the City is implementing to achieve our fair housing goals. Over 90% of these commitments are complete or in progress. There is more work to be done and the City is currently engaging New Yorkers across the five boroughs as we develop the Where We Live NYC 2025 plan. Join us!
