Events for Youth and Family

Celebrate the new inspirational picture book, Stars of the Night: The Courageous Children of the Czech Kindertransport, by Caren Stelson and illustrated by Selina Alko. This “quiet but immediate” (Horn Book, starred review) story tells the harrowing journey of the 669 children who survived the Holocaust due to the decisive, compassionate acts of Nicholas G. Winton. Caren and Selina will talk about their collaboration on this powerfully poignant story and what it means to be defiant in the face of tyranny. Mira Sucharov is Professor of Political Science at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada, where she specializes in international relations, the politics of Israel/Palestine, and Jewish Studies, moderates this program of distinguished author and illustrator. There will be a visual presentation followed by a Q&A. This timely book launch is for adults and their children (ages 8 +).

We are very excited to have you back at our in-person events at BPL. Please be considerate of your fellow guests and stay home if you’re feeling unwell. Also, consider wearing a mask when attending indoor BPL Presents events. You’ll be doing your part to help keep yourself and everyone healthy and safe.

Events for Youth & Families programs are made possible through generous support from the Estate of Pearl S. Reuillard in memory of her parents Yetta and Louis Schwartz.
