Dyeing with Autumn’s Colors with the Wyckoff House Museum

Fri, Oct 6 2023
11:00 am – 12:00 pm
Jamaica Bay Library

arts and crafts Culture Pass

Embrace the vibrant colors of Fall with a natural dyeing activity led by the Wyckoff House Museum, using plants and flowers grown on our farm. Participants will learn a brief history of using natural dyes on clothing and textiles and how they can apply this knowledge to their own wardrobes using materials from the garden or grocery store. We’ll touch on textile history, the pH scale, and color theory as we guide you through the steps to dye clothes at home!

Limited materials will be provided on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Culture Pass is a program for cardholding patrons of New York City’s public libraries, the Brooklyn Public Library, New York Public Library, and Queens Public Library. Support for Culture Pass is provided by the Charles H. Revson Foundation, Bloomberg Philanthropies, and the Laurie M. Tisch Illumination Fund. To learn more, visit www.culturepass.nyc
