Creative Aging: Drawing & Watercolor with Nancy Carey

In this 7-weeks series, participants will develop drawing and watercolor painting skills through step-by-step demonstrations and exercises via Zoom.

This will end in a culminating event in which teacher will prepare a slide show of 2 – 3 examples of each participant’s artwork. During the slide show, participants will comment on their work and share their experience in the class.

Registration is required. You will receive Zoom Link by 10am the morning of the program. Please note this is a series, if you register for one session, you are registered for the whole series. Once you receive the link, that zoom link can be used for ALL sessions.

Watercolor Materials List

Watercolor Paper: 140 lb. cold press (CP) paper or 90 lb. cold press (CP); Recommended brands: Cotman, Canson, Fabbiano Watercolor Studio — these papers will allow you to use both sides of paper with similar results

Paint: Small .17 fluid ounce tubes or pan sets, should include: Yellow, blue and red, preferably 2 of each (Ex. cool yellow, red, blue; warm yellow, red, and blue) Recommended brands: Cotman, Grumbacher Academy

Watercolor Brushes, synthetic: 2 round (pointy) brushes: one medium-large and a smaller one for details; 3/4” - 1” flat wash

Suggested brands: Princeton, Rekab, Loew-Cornell

Recommended: Simply Simmons Synthetic Brushes - Round, Size 6; Round, Size 12; Flat Wash, 1"

Or you can purchase sets at very reasonable prices. Make sure the package says watercolor.

If you only get one brush, make it a medium-size round with a precise point.

Other:

white plastic palette for mixing paint; #2 or HB pencil; pencil sharpener; eraser; paper towels; water container (recycled food containers are perfect); water.
