Join us for a day of thinking and learning about community organizing in Brooklyn. We’ll start our morning with expert Sarah Seidman, Puffin Foundation Curator of Social Activism at the Museum of the City of New York, as we learn about the rich history of activism in New York City and more specifically in Brooklyn. We’ll spend time exploring the social activism primary source modules available through Brooklyn Connections, and we will examine how teachers can effectively talk about activism and community organizing with their students as well as what materials the Brooklyn Collection provides for researching these issues in our borough. Teachers will leave with strategies and lesson plans for classroom use.

NOTE: Brooklyn Connections workshops are intended for educators and school administrators and is an approved NYSED Continuing Teacher and Leader Education (CTLE) sponsor. This special accreditation enables educators to utilize Brooklyn Connections professional learning workshops toward fulfilling their mandated 100 hours of approved CTLE credits.
