BPL Presents classical interludes Virtual Programming

Originally from Rio de Janeiro, guitarist/vocalist Carlos Almeida has been living in New York since 1987. During his career, he has played with major Brazilian stars, including Beth Carvalho, Jorje Aragão, Alcione, Martinho da Vila, Jair Rodrigues, Jorje Ben Jor — in fact there’s hardly an important musician in Brazil that Carlinhos hasn’t performed with. His repertoire is enormous, ranging from all styles of samba and pagode, to bossa nova, forró, choro, bolero, MPB (Brazilian popular music). For this virtual concert recorded specially for the Brooklyn Public Library's virtual Classical Interludes series, he performs a wide variety of Brazilian musical styles.

View the premier at our BPL Presents Facebook or YouTube page on Sunday, June 7, at 4pm.

Classical Interludes is made possible in part with support by Dr. Beverly S. Jacobs, Jane Brody Engquist and many generous individuals.
