Healthy Communities
City Harvest staff and volunteers lead free hour-long shopping tours at local supermarkets throughout the five boroughs. This tour will take place at Associated Supermarket (address: 597 Livonia Ave and Granville Payne Ave) in East New York, and is perfect for participants who attended the "Eat Healthy, Be Active" workshops at New Lots Library.
The class will meet at the library (address: 665 New Lots Ave bet. Barbey St and Schenck Av) at 5:15pm and will walk to Associated Supermarket. Participants who know how to get to the supermarket do not have to meet us at the library. For those traveling by public transportation: take the 3 train and get off at Pennsylvania Ave; or the B83 or B20 buses to Pennsylvania Ave.
For this tour, participants will learn tips on budgeting, reading food labels, picking out fruits and vegetables, and making healthier food choices. At the end of each tour, participants receive a $10 credit to shop.
Registration is required.
