Asian Pacific American Heritage Month movies at the library


Join us for our screening of Yellow Rose (2019), the first installment in our Cinema From the Margins series. This story follows an undocumented Filipina teen (played by Broadway darling Eva Noblezada) who dreams of leaving her small Texan town to pursue a country music career. She struggles between the choices of staying with her family or abandoning the only home she has ever known in pursuit of her dreams. However her entire life is disrupted when her mother (played by Broadway veteran Lea Salogna) is taken by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, forcing her to flee from her hometown to Austin, Texas.

This movie is rated PG-13 and has a runtime of 1 hour and 33 minutes.


Cinema From the Margins is a film screening series that seeks to highlight stories from often overlooked communities and people of diverse identities, with an emphasis on subjects that are relevant to our current time. Films in this series will start with a brief introduction prior to the movie and will be followed by the option to casually discuss afterwards.
