Chod Healing Ritual
Room: Grand Lobby, 1st Floor
Midnight Chod Healing Ritual: Chöd means “to cut.” Suffering that we human experience arises mainly through grasping at self and self-cherishing attitude. Cutting through this self-grasping and self-cherishing attitude is the main goal of Chöd practice. Chöd is also widely performed for healing physical and mental disorders. It is also used to restore peace to the environment and purify negative energies in homes etc. It involves a tantric ritual practice which “cuts” through the four maras (detrimental forces).
Dr. Chok will also do the Kago and Jabtrü rituals to sweeping and washing negative energies and infuse positive energies. Includes live music with Ben Stapp (tuba) and Josh Roseman (trombone).
Music innovator, Ben Stapp has established himself as a singular voice both as a tubist and composer, receiving the Jerome Artist, Roulette, and Heritage Artist grants and commissions as well as recording over 40 albums with 10 as leader. His distinct voice caught the attention of bassist William Parker, describing him as “a low-brass hero who creates beautiful full-range tuba sounds that make you love the instrument and the musician…reinventing many aspects of tuba playing regarding the sounds, colors and textures– a great musician.” Stapp is adjunct professor as NJCU and Band Director at 30Q291. www.benstapp.com
