Learn about works of art in the Brooklyn Museum’s collection that explore the role of women and the art created by women. Who gets attention in the history of art? What subject matters have appealed to artists? Explore portraiture by women and African American artists in a variety of media, from photography to sculpture. Examine objects for different cultures that help us understand an artist’s struggle for recognition, use of their materials and the museum’s challenges to display them. How do artists make money? Explore the ways different artists have manifested spirituality and religious beliefs through art. Explore the relationship between people and their changing climate through an examination of art and objects from across time and place.

April 28th - Who's in Focus? with Jennifer DiMartino

Registration is required. Zoom link will be sent to those who register at 10:00am the morning of the program.

Services for Older Adults is partially funded by Coordinated Outreach Library Services aid from the New York State Education Department, administered by the State Library’s Division of Library Development. All programs are sponsored by Brooklyn Public Library’s Department of Outreach Services.
