Bridging the Gap: An Impromptu Debate with Teens and Older Adults
Civic Engagement
teen time
TEENS NEED TO BE HEARD, AND THEIR IDEAS NEED TO BE RESPECTED.
OLDER ADULTS NEED TO BE HEARD, AND THEIR IDEAS NEED TO BE CONSIDERED.
JOIN US FOR THIS VIRTUAL DEBATE EVENT AS WE "BRIDGE THE GAP" BETWEEN TEENS AND OLDER ADULTS!
- We will use the extemporaneous debate model
- The resolution/topic will be emailed to you at 10am the day of the event (Tuesday, Feb 4, 2025)
- You will be assigned randomly to an intergenerational team of 2 or 3 people
- A coin toss will decide whether you argue the affirmative/pro or the negative/con side of the topic
- Your team will be given 15 minutes to prepare before the debates begin
Our debate program provides a safe space for all to share their thoughts and ideas; we may disagree, but we will not disrespect!
The Zoom link will be emailed to all registrants at 10am on the day of this event (Tuesday, Feb 4, 2025).
For more information, please contact Berena Hughes at 929-466-1158 during business hours, or email BHughes@bklynlibrary.org.
