Brainy Babies is a 6-part workshop and storytime for babies and toddlers and their parents/caregivers designed to model ways to read, talk, sing, and play with children ages 0-3. Through modeling, sharing early literacy tips, and small group activities and discussions, the sessions will provide information on early literacy practices for parents and caregivers to help them support their children’s early language and literacy development. The enhanced storytimes will include a component focused on parent/caregiver education as it relates to early learning development and parent-child well-being to promote parent-child bonding and to ameliorate the effects of toxic stress on young children.
Small groups of 5 or more, camps, schools, and daycares must contact the library in advance to schedule a storytime visit.
Brainy Babies is made possible due to generous support from the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation and City’s First Readers, an initiative of the New York City Council.
