babies & books Brainy Babies first five years multilingual storytime nanny and me parents and caregivers toddler time

Join us for a brain-building program on Zoom for children 0-3 years and their parents or caregivers from Borough Park Library. Families will enjoy stories and activities designed to encourage brain development and early learning practices.  Each week we will read books, sing songs, and do fun activities that promote language development, social-emotional skills, and more. Parents and caregivers will have the opportunity to learn about community resources, hear from expert guest speakers, and connect with peer support networks. Prepare your child for 3-K and toddler for Pre-K! Each session will have parts in English, Spanish and Mandarin.

Each week, we will explore a different theme:  READING, TALKING, SINGING, PLAYING, MOVEMENT, and EMOTIONS. Parents and caregivers will learn how to use these practices to develop their children’s oral language and pre-reading skills. Families will also receive FREE books, toys and learning materials, available for pickup at the Mapelton, Kensington, Homecrest and Paedergate branches as a part of our grab-and-go services.

This series will feature mindfulness tips and practices for babies and caregivers, as well as yoga movements. We will be joined by Music Therapist Erin Lee. We can't wait to see you there! We recommend logging on to the program at least 5 minutes early so we can say hello to you and your child and so that we can get started on time.

Additional support for BPL’s First Five Years programs is provided through generous funding from the New York City Council as part of City’s First Readers; The Pinkerton Foundation; Lucille Strider and Robert Myrstad in memory of Adam Strider; Hamond Family Foundation and Terry Mansky; Andrea R. Bozzo & John Martinez; Sagalyn Family Fund; and Ellen Freudenheim & Daniel Wiener. Support is also provided by the Brooklyn Eagles—a group of young and engaged Brooklyn Public Library supporters.
