after school banned books storytime

This week, instead of our regularly scheduled programming, we are celebrating Banned Books Week! We'll be reading a banned book and doing a short activity around the book. You may be surprised just what kinds of books get banned and challenged.

Banned Books Week (October 1-7, 2023) is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read. It spotlights current and historical attempts to censor books in libraries and schools. It brings together the entire book community — librarians, booksellers, publishers, journalists, teachers, and readers of all types — in shared support of the freedom to seek and to express ideas, even those some consider unorthodox or unpopular.

This program is recommended for kids ages 3-8 but all are welcome.

Masks

  • For the health and safety of our staff and patrons, masks are encouraged inside BPL locations.

If you or your child are not feeling well the day of the event, you should not attend.
