Black Rest, Resistance, and Spirituality: A Night of Power Poetry
Black Rest, Resistance, and Spirituality: A Night of Power Poetry
The personal has always been political, and the recognition of the intersections of race, gender, and class has been at the forefront of every Black equity movement. Activism strategies, spiritual guidance, and modes of resistance have been a part of the African Diasporic cannon since the first peoples. During this night of poetry, each piece read will highlight the strength found in Black rest, the power of ancestral spiritual practices, and modern and historic modes of resistance to racism, oppression, and inequity.
We hope you'll join us for an evening of spoken word featuring readers Keya Crenshaw, Dr. Jameka Hartley, Dr. Liseli A. Fitzpatrick, and Vinnie Mason.
