Bit Bots with KoKo NYC

KOKO combines Open Source’s mission of supporting socially engaged art and environmental awareness with STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) programming. KOKO offers a variety of art-based workshops for youth that utilize technology and recycled materials to help your child to create their own unique invention.

Bit Bots
Grades 3-5
Our combination of simple electronics, (like hobby motors and LED lights) with recyclables and found objects sparks imaginations and gets the young artists thinking like engineers. The teaching artist introduces a “theme of the day” and the students use the re-purposed materials to build sculptural objects based on their creative interpretation of the theme. (for example, they may build a car with bottle-top wheels then add a motor to make the car move across the room). At the end, students share their creations with the group!
