Ballpoint pen artwork created over the years have been favorably compared to art created using traditional art mediums. In this class participants will learn the basics techniques of drawing with a ballpoint pen. They will then explore drawing permanently through shapes, value, and design. Lastly, they will step out of their comfort zone to create a masterpiece for the culminating event.

Materials Needed: Vellum or Bristol paper; BIC Ballpoint pen in assorted colors.

Syllabus:

Week One: September 13th

· Describe shading and drawing techniques

· We will draw shapes with shading

· We will draw some still life

· Assign homework

Week Two: September 20th

· We will discuss the homework

· We will do directional line drawing of a flower

· Design a bird silhouette using a tree

· Assign homework

Week Three: September 27th

· We will discuss the homework

· While using pointillism, we will create a silhouette of a wolf

· Assign homework

Week Four: October 4th

· We will discuss the homework

· Work on creating a representation of water

· Assign homework

Week Five: October 18th

· We will discuss the homework

· We will create a detail drawing of an eye with a reflection

· Assign homework

Week Six: October 25th

· We will discuss the homework

· We will draw a floral design

· Assign homework

Week Seven: November 1st Culminating Event

· We will discuss homework

· First Hour: we will work on a animal drawing

· Second Hour: We will present everyone’s art
