Autistic Adults NYC – Autistic Self-Advocacy Workshop
Join members of Autistic Adults NYC for an Autism Self-Advocacy Workshop!
Autism self-advocacy is the practice of autistic people speaking up for themselves, their rights, and their needs.
At this workshop, Autistic Adults NYC will lead a discussion in different types of advocacy and brainstorm ways autistic people can advocate for themselves in their personal lives. The group will be joined virtually by Noor from the Autistic Self Advocacy Network, who will discuss their work and current areas of focus and answer any questions. At the end of the workshop, they will break into small discussion groups and prepare items to hand out to the public for Autistic Adults NYC’s upcoming Autistic Pride Day event!
This is a hybrid event -- attendance will be available in-person and via Zoom. The in-person event will take place at the Brooklyn Heights branch of the Brooklyn Public Library in the Multipurpose Room on the lower level.
This event is intended for Autistic adults, although it is open to all. You are welcome to bring a family member, friend, mentor, or aide to this event. If you are RSVPing on behalf of an Autistic adult, or if you are bringing another person, just be sure to include a plus 1 with your RSVP.
Advanced registration is required for this event. RSVP on the Autistic Adults NYC website. If you have questions or need help, call (718) 253-4948 x39165, or email InclusiveServicesEvents@bklynlibrary.org.
