Author Reading and Activity: A Pocketful of Poems
Join Caldecott Medalist, Coretta Scott King Award winner, and New York Times best-selling picture book creator, Javaka Steptoe. He has illustrated several books for children, including Jimi: Sounds Like a Rainbow, A Story of the Young Jimi Hendrix by Gary Golio, and Radiant Child, which he also wrote. Javaka will read the book A Pocketful of Poems and the activity will focus on the poem “April Shower.”
The participants will need the following supplies:
- writing paper
- pen/pencil
- construction paper
- assorted colored papers
- collage materials/founded objects
- scissors
- markers
- crayons
- glue
