Around the World Through Folk Tales
Choosing folk tales from four parts of the world: Brazil, Korea, Nigeria, and Norway, we use a common human constant, storytelling to learn about different parts of our world. These stories are tied to the land flora and fauna of each place.
We will begin by hearing music from each locale and go on to hear a folk tale from that culture using interactive components that allow the audience to participate. This segment will end, by reviewing parts of the story and giving the children time to speak about what they liked and disliked about each story.
Our second half of the program will be a time to create an art piece inspired by the story, using a variety of materials and methods. This way, each child will have a memory of the story and place to take home.
