adult learning anti-racism first five years parents and caregivers

We invite you to join the inaugural cohort of Antiracist Parenting: From Learning to Action. In this three-part, interactive workshop series, Tabitha and Adam will explore moving from learning about antiracism to taking action as a family.  Through fun activities that affect change at home and in the community, they’ll guide you and your family (kids included!) on a journey of exploration:

  • What are our antiracism goals as a family?
  • What are the obstacles that are impeding us from moving further along in our journey?
  • What can we do to dismantle those obstacles?

Activities include games, community mapping through art, goal setting with kids, and more.

Tabitha St. Bernard-Jacobs (she/hers) is a Trinidadian-American mom, writer, and award-winning artist and organizer. She is also a leading voice on parenting anti-racist children and is the author of the biweekly column, Raising Anti-Racist Kids with Romper.com. Tabitha consulted with Penguin on the kids book, Little Activists. Tabitha is a founding organizer of Women’s March. She currently serves as Senior Advisor of the organization after serving as Deputy Executive Director of Program. She co-founded Youth Empower, the youth arm of Women's March where, among other things, she led the team that organized the historic 2018 National School Walkouts against gun violence. Together with 24 other Women's March organizers, she was recognized as one of Glamour Magazine’s 2017 Women of the Year. She has been featured in the book, 200 Women Who Will Change The Way You See The World. Tabitha is raising two kids with her favorite human, Adam.

Adam St. Bernard Jacobs (he/him) is a peace educator, nonprofit leader, and proud parent. He was the founding Executive Director of Kids Creative in NYC for 19 years and is currently the Director of Development and Communications at Ramapo for Children NYC, which includes the National School Climate Center, Ramapo Training, and the Youth Development Institute. He was a member of the team that founded P.S. 536, a progressive elementary school in the Bronx. He also sits on national organizing committees working to dismantle white supremacy in arts education and Jewish institutions. He has written articles and led workshops in conflict resolution and the arts, giving talks and workshops at Columbia University, The Peace and Justice Studies Conference, Gettysburg College, and The University of Istanbul, among others. He was also Mr. Clown, a lead performer in the internationally acclaimed rock group for kids, The Dirty Sock Funtime Band, and was a regular on Nick Jr. and Chuck E Cheese TV.  He is raising 2 fantastic children with his life partner Tabitha.
