“Brick by Brick,” A Meet the Author event with Charles Smith Jr.
The children’s book “Brick by Brick” tells the story of how the home of the United States president was built by many hands, including those of slaves, who undertook this amazing achievement long before there were machines to do those same jobs.
This event was inspired by the 1619: 400 Years Later project, organized by Nikole Hannah-Jones, which re-examines the history of slavery in the United States.
Funded by Friends of Cortelyou Library.
