Join acclaimed graphic novelists JD Glass and Kris Dresen for a zine making workshop! Learn about how they worked together to write their graphic novel Punk Like Me, hear them talk about zine making back in the 90s, and learn how to make a zine of your own. Supplies will be provided.
*This event (and all events on Lesbian Library Day) is open to teens and young adults as well as adults!
JD Glass is a first-generation Latina author, an artist, a musician, and a recipient of the Stonewall Honor from the American Library Association as well as a Lambda Literary Award. JD lives on Staten Island in New York City with their partner, Kris Dresen and their two dogs. Their graphic novel Punk Like Me (co-created by their partner, Kris Dresen) is inspired by their own experiences growing up queer in NYC.
Kris Dresen is an accomplished comics artist who has been recognized with Eisner and Ignatz Award nominations, and a Xeric Grant for her emotionally rich, evocative, and visceral work. Kris’s work has been included in the Lambda Literary Award-winning anthology No Straight Lines: Four Decades of Queer Comics. She also works as a book designer and an art director.
