The Journey of Pura Belpré’s Tales presented by Teatro SEA
The Journey of Pura Belpré's Tales brings Puerto Rican and Latin American folklore to life through puppetry, storytelling, music, and acting. Inspired by Pura Belpré — the first Puerto Rican librarian in the New York Public Library system and a pioneering storyteller and puppeteer — the show recreates her legendary Bilingual Story Hour, featuring beloved characters such as Pérez & Martina, Juan Bobo, and The Three Magi. Recommended for ages 5 and up.
This program is presented by Teatro SEA, the premiere Bilingual Arts-in-Education Organization and Latino Children’s Theatre in the United States.
This program is presented in thanks to the generous support of NYC Council Member Mercedes Narcisse, representing Brooklyn's 46th City Council District
