The Bright Side: An Anyone/Anywhere Photography Exhibition

to
Williamsburgh Library

Photographer Anjelica Jardiel has been organizing photo workshops at BPL on everything from cyanotypes to portraits. Join us for a culminating gallery show that will display what participants created alongside work by other artists!

Join us for the closing celebration on Saturday, October 21 from 1–4 pm featuring refreshments, DJ Pedro Motta and a photo booth with Jam of Human Flower Productions. Viewers will be invited to take home a photo of their choosing to keep.

ANYONE/ANYWHERE is a traveling pop-up exhibition series curated by photographer Anjelica Jardiel and established in 2017. Each ANYONE/ANYWHERE exhibit invites photographers (from across the world and of any skill level) to submit images centered on a particular theme. Photos are printed out and displayed for a dynamic exhibition in which viewers are encouraged to remove their favorite pieces from the wall to take home to keep.

The guiding belief of ANYONE/ANYWHERE is that anyone can be a photographer and create art. We are pleased to bring ANYONE/ANYWHERE to Brooklyn Public Library. Photographers of all ages and skill levels, from Brooklyn and beyond, submited photos based on the theme for our upcoming exhibit The Bright Side.

What is The Bright Side? There are often two sides to every story. The Bright Side can be something beautiful that emerges from a negative experience. It’s a sunny day, a break in the clouds. It can be an overexposed photograph, an image that stems from a happy memory, or a showcase for something colorful and vibrant. What does The Bright Side mean to you?

Submitted photographs will be exhibited at the Williamsburgh Library for one week starting on October 16, 2023. On October 21, we will hold our closing celebration at Williamsburgh Library with refreshments and a DJ. As always with ANYONE/ANYWHERE gallery shows, attendees may take a photo they love off the wall and bring a work of art home with them. You may even be able to meet the photographer and have a conversation about why you connected with their photo.
