SummaryCollage, 23 x 25 inches, with photo of artist and American flags. Artwork created in New York Harbor Hospital Creative Arts Program, led by Beryl Brenner. Project: Visions of vets, 2009, referencing the theme: Who is an American veteran? Artwork was displayed at the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans Memorial and Vietnam Era Museum and Education Center. Exhibition label: Wish for peace by Giles Fisher. In his work “Wish for Peace”, Vietnam Veteran Giles Fisher shows a small image of himself. Above his head is the word “Wish.” It is a somber image connoting the seriousness of war and his wish is for peace. He is surrounded by American flags and a clock representing the passage of time since the war. As is always the case for any veteran who has fought in a war, the memories will always be with them; hence the camouflage jungle imagery. The large flower on top of Mr. Fisher’s image represents hope for the future. To the right, a cat looks to the future and Mr. Fisher indicates that “he has many more lives than just nine.”
